Launch of Magma Pop digital game
This BTW-developed resource is now published and ready to play!
Magma Pop is a visual representation of a hot magma chamber beneath the surface of the Earth. The game introduces geological and chemical concepts, such as the composition and structure of the geosphere and/or the structure of matter. For senior students, it’s a visual means to explore aspects of the natural world, including the interplay between temperature, crystallisation and magma composition.
Ben, Simon and their team of collaborators have created a new resource and computer game complete with teacher guidelines for teaching magma chemistry. More resources are available on the Science Learning Hub(external link): the primary site where teachers search for content to teach in the classroom. The Magma Pop game has been many years in development, and its development has involved lecturers, PhD students and undergrad students.
