Ted Bertrand Geophysicist
Biography
Ted is a magnetotelluric (MT) scientist with experience using land, lake-bottom and marine magnetotellurics. His main research focus is using MT to infer the magmatic systems that drive thermal processes (e.g. volcanos and geothermal systems) in the crust of the Taupo Volcanic Zone.
Project role
In the ‘Beneath the Waves’ research programme, with colleagues from Scripps Institute of Oceanography, Ted is leading marine MT surveys around Whakaari/White Island and Tuhua/Mayor Island, to infer the distribution of magmatic systems beneath these near-shore volcanos.
