Wiebke HeiseGeophysicist

Biography
Wiebke’s research interests include the effects of anisotropy on magnetotelluric (MT) data, geothermal exploration, regional tectonics and fluid driven crustal processes. She has imaged the deep magma sources in the Taupo Volcanic Zone and used MT to study the relationship between fluids and plate coupling at the Hikurangi subduction margin.
Project role
In the ‘Beneath the Waves’ research programme, Wiebke is assisting Ted Bertrand with the deployment, analysis and modelling of the MT surveys around Whakaari/White Island and Tuhua/Mayor Island.
